Mission Report

We thank you for your continuous support of the many ministries, not just those of the Mission committee, but all ministries throughout Walker Church.   The schedule for the Banana Brigade is posted on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall.  There are a few changes in this year’s procedures.  We will continue to volunteer at COTS; that schedule is also posted on the bulletin board and we will be calling on you for your help.   Members of the Mission Committee are:  Evelyn Farmer, Betty Kelly, Jean McCurdy, Jean Queen,  Betty Stewart, Ann Williams, Dale and Janell Ward.  If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please contact us.

The Mission Committee, again this year, kept its emphasis on local missions:

1). Coats for Kids of Greene Co. Head Start - 71 coats for $2046.72

2). Greene Co. Senior Center - $500 for Meals on Wheels and a quarterly birthday party for the seniors

3). Greene Co. Christian Outreach - $500 and volunteers for the Thrift Store

4). Transition House - $1000 for upkeep and furnishings 5). Greene Co. Food Pantry - $1,125 and 175 Ibs. of food

We continue to support the General Board of Global Ministries with a Covenant Relationship and a contribution of $800 to the Joy Center Outreach of the Red Bird Missionary Conference. We collected $3,753 for the UMCOR Haiti disaster relief and also sent Health Kits.

We have loyal and hard working members on the Committee, some of whom have served for ten or more consecutive years. We thank them all for their time and devotion.
