MISSIONS COMMITTEE
Wesley Woods Charitable Care
Mother’s Day Offering - May 9, 2010
The foundation of Wesley Woods provides charitable care for older adults in our communities and is a registered 501c3. The funds donated to Wesley Woods help meet financial needs of men and women in the nine retirement residences, the patients of Wesley Woods’ nursing and specialized care facilities, and those who are served in Georgia’s largest geriatric hospital, located on the Wesley Woods main campus. Your generous offering on May 9 will be a “full life” blessing to the aging adults who count on Wesley Woods.
Walker Mission Project
Greene County Food Pantry
Our Walker Church Mission project for the month May is the Green County Food Pantry. Please bring non-perishable food items and put them in the boxes in the Fellowship Hall. If you wish to make a monetary donation, please make your check out to Walker UMC and note “Greene County Food Pantry” on you check. Please give generously for the citizens of Greene County.
Since the devastating earthquakes, UMCOR’s supply of Health Kits has been depleted. The Mission Committee is sponsoring a church-wide drive to collect more kits for UMCOR, beginning April 11 through April 30. Listed below are the items in each kit.
HEALTH KIT ITEMS: $12 per kit.
Place these items inside a sealed one-gallon plastic bag.
-1 hand towel (15”X25” up to 17”X27”, no kitchen towel)
-1 washcloth
-1comb (large and study, not pocket-sized)
-1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
-1 bath-size bar of soap (3oz. and up)
-1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child-size brushes)
-6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
-$1.00 to purchase toothpaste
(Note: UMCOR Sager Brown is now purchasing toothpaste in bulk to be added to health kits before shipping to ensure that the product does not expire before they are sent.)
Important Kit Assembly Information:
-All items included in kits must be NEW items.
-Strict rules govern product entry into international counties. It is important that kits contain only the requested items -- nothing more.
