SILENT AUCTION BAKE SALE—

A Big Start to Camp Meeting Month

Wednesday, September 1

5:30 PM until 7:15 PM

Please plan to attend this important and fun function. All proceeds from the silent auction will go to the United Methodist Children's Home in Decatur. If you are a successful bidder and wish to pay by check, please make out your check to Walker United Methodist Church with the purpose indicated; UNITED METHODIST CHURCH CHILDREN'S HOME. Cash will be welcome as well. If you plan to provide a cake, please tell John Eadie as soon as possible so that we can know how many cakes to expect. If you have not planned to bake a cake but would like to do so, there are disposable cake plates and domes in the Fellowship Hall.

Camp Meeting Time!

It’s time for Walker’s annual camp meeting month, which we celebrate in September. We hope you’ll reserve all of your Sundays and Wednesdays to spend with us in praise, worship, and fellowship during this special time. Here are some of the services you can enjoy:

Sept 1 (Wed)

Lots of fun this night as we hold a silent cake auction to raise money for the United Methodist Children’s Home in Decatur! Instead of our usual covered dish supper, this meal will be provided by our United Methodist Women.

Sept 5 (Sun)

Come to our annual outdoor service under the shelter, featuring The Servers Band, who play and sing both bluegrass and gospel. Don’t forget to stay for dinner…and bring your Labor Day company! This meal is free of charge, graciously provided by our kitchen team.

Sept 12, 19, & 26 (Sun)

Worship at Walker – 8:30 or 11:00 – and hear good preaching and lots of gospel music by our musicians.

Sept 19 (Sun – 7 p.m.)

This special service celebrates Vespers and Christian love. We meet under the shelter for evening prayers and a devotional, followed by fellowship and refreshments.

Sept 8, 15, & 22 (Wed)

These are our Revival Wednesdays at Walker Church.  Following our 6 o’clock fellowship meals, we’ll enjoy guest preachers and good gospel music.

Sept 29 (Wed)

We welcome the New Apostle’s Quartet, a favorite of Walker Church, to close our camp meeting month with a concert after our fellowship meal.

KITCHEN COMMITTEE

Yes, it is time to schedule our Wednesday Fellowship cooking and clean up teams for 2011. If you do not intend to be a volunteer as you were in 2010, please let John Eadie know so that your name can be removed from the volunteer list. Otherwise your name and 2010 schedule will remain on the 2011 calendar. If you have not volunteered in the past, your help is requested PLEASE even if it is for only one time. The success of our Wednesday night suppers depends totally on volunteers. Please let John Eadie know your intentions by November 3
