UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

               The UMW will meet February 13 at 10:00 am.  Hostesses will be Rosemary Caroland and Betty Nuckolls.  This will also be the first of our mission study sessions. All ladies in the church are invited to attend.

               The UMW is asking everyone to donate paper goods during the month of February.  There will be a donation box in the fellowship hall.

                The UMW is sponsoring a gift card for Katie Pike Boland who will soon be a new mother.  To participate, you may give your cash donation to Carmen Martin or you may write your check to “UMW” and record Katie in the “For” line.   You may send it to the church address or place your donation in the offering plate. UMW needs your donations by February 12. Thank you for your participation. 

BIBLE STUDY

Pastor John will lead an eight week Bible Study based on the workbook by Dale & Sandy Larsen entitled “Images of the Spirit” The study will be the Mondays of February and March from 4:00 – 5:00.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!

The Mission Committee is asking you to help stuff boxes of goodies to send to our troops.  Please bring packages of snack crackers, cookies, nuts, dried fruit, gum, candy, and any other snacks you would like to contribute.  Put them in the box located in the Fellowship Hall.  We need your donated goodies by February 3.  Postage will be paid using your generous Christmas postage donations.  Thank you for your continued support of Walker missions.

COME SHARE THE LOVE !

              Our theme for our February Wednesday Night programs will be “Come Share the Love.”

              Be sure to sign up for our February 15th Valentine’s dinner on the sign-up sheet in the fellowship hall, you will not want to miss this fun filled evening.  We will be treated to special entertainment by the “Homeward Bound” quartet and enjoy a delicious meal prepared by the kitchen committee. This will be an evening not only for sweethearts, but for everyone.  Walker church is full of love and ready to share it.

TRUSTEE HONEY-DO LIST

Attached to the wall in the Fellowship Hall is a box marked “Trustees.” Inside the box you will find paper and a pen. Please let your Trustees know if you see anything that needs to be repaired or if you have a suggestion to improve our church buildings or grounds. We welcome your input. Thanks!

WALK TO EMMAUS

              During a Walk to Emmaus weekend, you will enjoy three days of singing, learning, laughing, worshiping, reflecting, praying, and participating in small groups. Discussions center around fifteen talks given by laity and clergy. These talks present the theme of God’s grace and how that grace is real in your life, how you live a life of grace, and how you bring grace to others, as well as other topics such as disciplines of Christian discipleship and what it means to be the church.

              Oconee River Basis Emmaus would like you to be a part of their next weekend and invite you to have a closer walk with Christ for the rest of your life. For the men, that weekend is March 22 – March 25 and the women, that weekend is the weekend of March 29 – April 1. FINANCE COMMITTEE REPORT

We are now in a new year—2012.  It is my pleasure to announce to you that 2011 was a good year as it relates to the generous contributions you made.

For the year 2011 we had pledges of $175,944.  Estimating the giving of those who chose not to pledge but had given regularly the previous year, an additional amount of offerings was expected in the amount of $44,313.  This amounted to $220,257 for 2011.

On December 31, 2011 the records showed that $250,177 had been actually received during the year.

Our Stewardship Emphasis during November and December 2011 resulted in pledges of $172,262.  Using the past year of offerings from those who did not pledge but provided regularly, it is estimated that we will receive an additional amount of $53,147.

This amount of $225,409 will support the operating budget of the 2012 year.  Thank you again for your generous contributions.
